Babaylov Igor Valeryevich
Born on 9 February 1965 in Glazov (Udmurt ASSR) to a family of teachers and artists. Studied under A. P. Kholmogorov — People’s Artist and laureate of the Repin State Prize.
Began drawing in early childhood and painted his first portrait at the age of 4.
Started art education at 9 in Glazov Children’s Art School (1974–1977), co‑founded by his father V. V. Babaylov.
At 13 passed a nationwide competitive exam (25 applicants per seat) and entered the Moscow Secondary Art School at the Surikov Institute (1979–1983).
In 1990 graduated from the Surikov Moscow State Academic Art Institute (easel painting, Prof. V. N. Zabelin). Studied drawing and painting with Zabelin, Chirkov, Danilichev, Shatsky, Andriaka; briefly with Kugach and Shcherbakov.
Portrait painting occupies a special place in his work.
